Observation Deck
a poem.
Hello, and happy Monday to you all! I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling lately like I’m holding my breath. Figuratively of course, yet there is an obvious suspension in the air. Wherever you are in the world, especially if you call America home I have a feeling you are doing the same. Together we hold witness to a world undergoing unprecedented change.
So if no one will remind you today.
Take a deep breath.
Inhaling what actions and thoughts we can muster toward a brighter future. Exhaling to release the burden of what we can’t control.
This hold has kept me from writing from an inspired place, but I’m sure I’ll get that back soon. In the meantime, I want to share this short poem I wrote a while back with you. I hope you enjoy and have a blessed week!
Love Always,
Jourdana
observation deck
some of us witness life
watching from a perched roof
as the humans play, fight, and love.
not everyone gets to both fully participate and observe life.
it is difficult to do both
and at a certain point, one side must give in.
detached they call it.
but every storyteller must be.
it’s the sacrifice for the narratives of the beautiful lives we get to live.
for some, our fate is life not really on earth,
not in the sky either,
but somewhere out there on the observation deck with a pen, some paper, and a view of it all.
